Polly: "I started walking dogs at South Godstone Animal
Centre in January 2001 to help me recover from the death of my husband.
Dogs are very therapeutic but as I work full-time I am unable to have one
of my own. Now I can get my "doggy-fix" once a week in exchange
for a few hours of my time." |

John: 'Super John' not only walks dogs big or small,
in all weather conditions, but he has recently adopted a dog from us. The
lucky little dog is Barney, an adorable Jack Russell who sadly was part
of a cruelty case. Despite Barney's past, he has always been amazingly affectionate,
and now the two have found the perfect companionship and love eachother
to bits! |

Annette: Annette has been volunteering at the centre
for three years. She spends her time with the cats, making their stay with
us as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. Annette has said that one of
the most rewarding parts of helping is being able to gain trust in the slightly
more timid and nervous cats, and being able to see their confidence grow.
Best of all is when she comes in the following week and finds the cats have
found a home! |

Karen: When I first started at South Godstone about
four years ago, I'd never really walked a dog, let alone owned one, but
shadowing a member of staff for three weeks taught me what I needed to know.
Walking the dogs is always such fun and happy dogs equals happy me! A year
ago I was invited to join 'The Friends of the RSPCA South Godstone' (the
fundraising group for the Centre), and took on the role of Secretary and
producing their newsletter twice a year. Again, these were things I'd never
tried before, but knowing they benefit the animals is very satisying and
just adds to the pleasure that volunteering has brought me. |
