There are several stages involved in the adoption of an animal. These are outlined below: Step One: PaperworkYou will be given a price list and a copy of our terms and conditions of adoption, explaining our homing policies. Please read this carefully. If you agree to our policies you will be asked to complete a form telling us about your home, family and lifestyle. This is in order for us to match you to the right animal to suit you. Step Two: Meeting a Potential PetOnce you have completed an interview form, we will match your details to suitable animals and bring them out to meet you.
Step Three: Reserving a PetIf the meeting is successful a home visit will be arranged. If the meeting is unsuccessful, we suggest you return in a weeks time to look at new animals available for rehoming. Please respect our qualified judgment if we decide the match between you and an animal is not suitable. All members of the family must meet the new dog, including existing dogs. Step Four: Home VisitAn RSPCA home visitor will contact you within a few days of you reserving your pet, in order to arrange a convenient date to visit your home. This is to confirm your details, offer any additional advice or answer any questions about basic animal care. You will usually be advised whether or not you have been successful at the time of the visit and issued with the relevant paperwork. Having completed a successful home visit, please contact the animal center to find out when to collect your new pet. Step Five: AdoptionCollecting your new pet! Please allow yourself plenty of time for this process, as there is paperwork that must be completed in your presence. Step Six: Follow UpYour RSPCA home visitor will contact you in four to six weeks to confirm that your pet has settled in well and will provide any further guidance or advice. |
